The Argonauts followed Jason for the Golden Fleece knowing exactly what it would cost them. These ones do the same, every month.
The Argonauts are the people who believed in this. Odyssey is the Argonauts, and the Argonauts are Odyssey. That is not a nice phrase to put on a page: it is how this project actually works.
They keep this distribution alive in three ways at once: economically, technically and morally. You can have the best distribution in the world, but if nobody uses it, then it is not the best distribution in the world.
This is where the idea of being a user of an open source project finally becomes what it should always have been. An Argonaut takes part in the existence of the distribution: pays for it, reports a bug, proposes a feature, asks a question, asks for help. Become one and you are one of us. You are Odyssey.
The Council of Argonauts is the decision making body of Odyssey. Nine seats: mine, seven that I choose, and one elected by the forum, by all of you.

Meetings, decisions, features: you have your say. Within what is possible, and I want to be honest about that too: running something as technical as a Linux distribution is not the same as running a state or a republic. Some calls stay mine. But you are in the room.
And in practice, being an Argonaut means you can ask me for packages to add to the repositories, get dedicated support, write in the forum, and use a private area with a small end to end encrypted vault of your own.
A drop in the ocean. But you have thrown one.
Less than a coffee. More than a vote.
The same seat. Just a bigger hand on the oar.
Cannot afford it? Then write to me and say so, in your own words. No documents, no forms, no proof: just tell me. If the reason is real, you get in for free, and nobody but me will ever know. Kindness is one of this project's values, and values are worth nothing if you drop them when they cost you something.
